The Carillon
The Carillon at Lake Burley was given as a gift by Britain to Canberra on it's 50th anniversary & placed in the Commonwealth Park. Lake Burley Griffin is the centerpiece of Canberra & offers views over the lake and central Canberra. The National Carillon has 55 bells.
Lake Tuggeranong
The lake was created by the construction of a dam in 1987. Lake Tuggeranong foreshore is parkland, with swimming, fishing, wind-surfing and non-motorised boating activities on the lake, with a 6.7 kilometre bicycle path surrounding the lake.
Queanbeyan Gorge
The name Queanbeyan is derived from "quinbean", an Aboriginal word meaning "clear waters". Explore surrounding national parks, and other natural attractions, or try your hand at one of the various water sports on offer.
