Kalgoorlie-Boulder's Historic Buildings
Interested in historic buildings? Then Kalgoorlie-Boulder will not disappoint you. Throughout the region are old miners cottages and heritage buildings dating back to the 1890's. Many of these buildings are hotels such as the Exchange Hotel, York Hotel, Palace Hotel and the Old Australia Hotel. Other historic buildings are Kalgoorlies Town Hall (1908), and the School of Mines. In Boulder, you will find the Court Hotel and Boulder Town Hall (1908). The Boulder Town Hall will impress you with its pressed tin ceilings and wrought iron balastrading. Or take a look at the Goatcher Stage Curtain while there. This curtain was hand painted by renowned theatre artist Phillip Goatcher and is available to be viewed every Wednesday between 10am to 3pm. The Boulder Town Hall and Court Hotel are located on Burt Street.

Kalgoorlie-Boulder Super Pit
This is definitely one of the goldfields attractions that should not be missed. This mine has produced over 1000 tonnes of gold, and is recognised as the richest square mile on earth. Over the last 20 years the use of modern open cut mining technology has seen the Golden Mile transform itself into a Super Pit. Current dimensions of the "Super Pit" are 290 metres deep by 1.5 kilometres wide and 4 kilometres long. The "Super Pit" can be viewed from a platform on Outram Street. Open from 6am to 7pm daily. Check with the Kalgoorlie Visitors Centre for blast times. Admission is free.

School of Mines Museum
Interested in geology or minerals? Then a visit to the School of Mines Museum is a must! Some 3,000 mineral specimens and famous gold nugget replicas can be found here. The museum is located on Cassidy Street, Kalgoorlie and is open from 8-30am to 12-30 pm Monday to Friday - closed on Public and School holidays. Admission is free.

Boulders Loopline Tourist Railway
Are you a railway or gold mine historian? Then take a trip on the Boulder Loopline Tourist Railway. Established in 1897, it was used as a means of transport for miners needing to travel between Boulder and the "Golden Mile" mine. Included on this tour is a visit to the Old Chaffers Power Station where old mining machinery is displayed. On the return journey a detour is taken to the "Super Pit". This trip takes approximately one hour. The Boulder Railway Station is located at the top end of Burt Street in Boulder and tours depart daily at 10 am Monday to Saturday, and at 10am and 11.45 am on Sundays.

Boulder Pharmacy Museum
Located in a chemist shop on Burt Street this pharmacy has been operating for over 100 years. Open from 8.50 am to 5.30 pm Monday to Friday and 8.50 am to 12.30 pm on Saturdays. Further historical pharmaceutical items can be found displayed at the Coolgardie Pharmacy Museum.

Goldfields War Museum

There are a large number of armoured vehicles, weapons, uniforms, war time relics and memorabilia displays to be viewed. Read some of the heart tugging letters written by some of our brave Australian soldiers to their families. The museum is open from 10am to 4pm Monday to Friday, and 10am to 2pm on weekends and public holidays.

Two-Up School
Australia's only legalised bush two-up school can be located approximately seven kilometres north of the post office. Visitors are shown the game and are then allowed to play if they wish. No alcohol and only persons over the age of 18 years of age are permitted to enter.

Gold Prospecting
Fancy finding your own gold strike! Then the goldfields is a great place to start. The Kalgoorlie region is a very popular area. See the regional Department of Minerals and Energy for Miners Rights and get a permit to prospect on vacant crown land before proceeding. Most people use metal detectors to prospect for gold. Check with the local tourist bureau for metal detector hire places.

Kalgoorlie Aquatic Centre
