Bare Island is an islet in south-eastern Sydney & located about 16km south east of the Sydney central business district, within Botany Bay, close to the bay's northern headland.
Bare Island is the most popular scuba diving & and snorkelling site in New South Wales. The reefs that stretch around the island and out to the south and west are home to some of Australia's most colourful marine animals.
Bare Island is connected by a footbridge to the suburb of La Perouse. The heritage-listed military fort and tunnels can be visited by guided tour.
